World Civ PLC 4/12

Attendance: Gray, Johnson, and Roy


  • Discussed summer PD schedule with Mrs. Roy
  • Discussed how WWII unit was going so far, students misconceptions, accomplishments, etc.
  • Talked about plan for a writing prompt for the Manhattan Project (i.e. should the bomb have been dropped, why or why not, could there have been an alternative plan that would have ended the war.)

  • Discussed main topics/battles/events we want to cover with the students in the WWII unit.
  • Introduced the idea of comparison assignment on the Holocaust and Japanese Internment camps.

  • Discussed the use of propaganda and the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany
  • Plans for future topics of Pearl Harbor, D-Day, the Holocaust, etc

Discussed possible ideas for Final Exam

Discussed the use of a comparative essay for my final in AP World History and the use of extra credit for all students that upload their essay to their backpacks.

Discussed review for content students have struggled with in the last unit (Enlightenment and American/French Revolutions)

World Civilization PLC 11/16

Attendance: Johnson and Gray

Discussed 2nd six weeks grades and if we needed to recommend anyone for intervention. Discussed how to get makeup work for students that have missed instruction and how we can implement Google Classroom more.

Discussed using quizlet or another app for formative assessment.


Worked on including more writing in our exploration project by including the use of journal entries from the explorers perspective.

PLC Meeting 11/2


Attendance: Johnson, Gray, and Roy

Exploration Exam -
The exchange of food, products, diseases, etc in the new world.
How did horses become important to the Native Americans?
The slave trade and what drove the slave trade.
Selling cotton to England in order to sell cotton to the North.

Backward planning has helped teachers with the writing prompts and designing the instruction with the evidence in mind.

Students will be asked to do a Biography of 2 explorers and map out their route.

Common student misconceptions to address- That explorers sailed for their native countries.
The embellishment of the new world by the explorers.  The three Gs of exploration - God, Gold and Glory.  Religion played a major part in exploration.
